Scotland is on the cutting edge of baby entertainment since the Scottish Opera announced it would begin a show exclusively for babies aged 6-18 months called “Baby O.” Fortunately the babies won’t just be plopped down in front of a screaming opera singer. The show will create a pleasing environment and a multi-sensual experience for the babies to enjoy. The performance will use no English words. Instead, audience members will “be encouraged to gurgle along to the score and to crawl over a furry garden set…”

Great idea but what are the results?

Davidson said test performances had confounded expectations. “We expected it to be quite noisy, but we were delighted when we saw the happy expressions on their wee faces,” she said.

When babies are happy everyone’s happy.
